My Story and Mission section header for veteran-owned mental health brand

Hi, I'm Alaska — a proud disabled veteran, member of the LGBTQIA+ community, and the founder behind this mission-driven brand. Like many who have served, I’ve faced my own battles with mental health. It’s a struggle that often goes unseen, and unfortunately, one that has claimed far too many lives.

Over the last few years, I’ve lost friends and my grandfather — all fellow veterans — to suicide. Their deaths shook me deeply and made the harsh reality of veteran suicide impossible to ignore. You may have heard the heartbreaking statistic: an average of 22 veterans die by suicide each day. I can’t accept that as normal, and I refuse to stay silent.

That’s why I started this business — to do something that matters. Creating has become part of my own healing, so I make apparel, wood art, and tufted rugs. While not everything I create is centered on mental health, the act of creating itself helps me manage my own struggles — and it opens the door for conversation. My hope is that the work I share can spark connection, encourage honest dialogue, and help other veterans feel comfortable speaking up.

My goal is to help break the stigma and remind people that there is absolutely no shame in not being okay and no weakness in asking for help.

A portion of every sale is donated to Stop Soldier Suicide, an organization working to save the lives of veterans and service members who are struggling in silence.

More than just a brand, I hope to build a community — a place where veterans can support one another, speak honestly, and know they’re never alone.

Thank you for being here. Together, we can change the narrative.
